are there any health insurance plans for me?
im pregnant and dont have health insurance. are there any health insurance plans that will cover me. i know about the government assistance but i think i make too much money to qualify and dont make enough to pay for all the hospital bills that will come. and before i get the "if you cant afford a baby then you shouldnt have one" responses, i can afford to support and baby but dont have 10's of thousands of dollars to pay to have one

- Hate to tell you this but if you can't afford to have a baby then you can't afford to support one becuase part of supporting a baby is being able to pay for the medical care that comes with having a baby...that includes HAVING the baby. WHERE is the father of this poor little life and WHY isn't HE paying for part of the birth? As for insrance, only one I know of is the Government, and health insurances supplied by one's employer. If you couldn't afford the cost of giving birth why did you spread your legs?
- It might be very hard for you to find a health plan that will cover maternity especially because you are currently pregnant. I would check into the state assisted medicaid or CHP Plus, we have that in Colorado I am not sure if that is a nation wide program. You can also look into midwife services. They can often treat you for a lower amount and don't be scared off by them by thinking they only offer natural birth options. Speak with one in your area about your options. I would check into state programs and rule those out before looking into health plans. I am a married mother of two looking for individual coverage for my kids and I because my husband's coverage is around 800 a month to add the three of us. I have not run across any plan that covers maternity. Good luck and congrats! Colleen, you have 20K sitting around to have a baby or financially provide for any medical hospital bill? I would doubt many people have a savings account set up with that kind of cash in it should they have a baby or get in a car wreck. She wanted assistance, not an answer that would put her down for her choice to start a family.
