Can an employers insurance company deny longterm disability insurance to a hearing impaired person?
My daughter is being denied longterm disability insurance at her place of employment because the insurance company stated her hearing impairment does not fall within their guidelines. I was under the impression this was in violation of the American with Disability Act. Any info provided is greatly appreciated.

- It may preclude her hearing disability. They cannot deny coverage for her due to the hearing loss but they can consider it a pre-existing condition and not allow any coverage in regards to her hearing loss or subsequent issues that may arise. I would advise her to seek out her insurance benefit coordinator in her company and talk with them to get a straight answer. Good luck!
- It very much depends on the state. Some states may consider impaired hearing a disability, some might not.
