Long term disability insurance.?
I am 25 years old and couple of years back I had a terrible car accident. Doctors didnt expect me to survive. I have an artificial graft attached to my heart for "Aneurysm" and I have a rod in my right leg. If you see me personally, then you will never be able to make out that I ever I had an accident. Doctors said that my young age was a positive point in my total recovery. I am an engineer and I can do most of my day to day activities normally, but say suppose I have some complications in future and I am not being able to perform my job, then should I get some kind of disability insurance? The accident was not my fault. The 16 year old kid who was driving that sports car, caused an accident and died. I am left with an artificial part of my heart and a broken leg. I might even become handicap after a while, so should I go for the disability insurance? How does it work? Will it account for my pre-existing health condition caused by someone else? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

- There is Long Term Disabiltiy (LTD) and Long Term Care (LTC) insurance. LTD is good for later on when and if you become disabled. LTC is good for later if you become so disabled that you can no longer care for yourself and need to be in a facility, whether it be Assisted Living or total Nursing Care. You health background will be a factor in the premium. The younger you are when you apply the better, the rates will be less expensive than if you were, for example, 50 years old. Find an insurance agent in your area for quotes.
- you can apply for disability certainly it doesnt matter how u end up disabled it also depends on maybe it will end up you cant do your engineering job but are u able to do another kind of job i dont believe the accident matters to them who caused it or whos fault it was when u actually apply they will ask how your affected from the day u file like what things are u unable to do how has it affected the job u are doing now u can say u may even become handicapped eventually but disability waits for that day to happen they are very strict now in rhode island because our money is all used up the amount paid a month will go by whether u worked long enough in your life and how much u made then they have full disability and partial disability i know u can earn so much a month of partial please contact your local social security system good luck
