It is a brand new time period. The economy is different.Because of it, a lot of Americans just are unable to make as many purchases as before. In terms of the car industry you can see it.With the auto industry seemingly always losing money, you have to know that it is because people just aren’t buying big items.
With that in mind most Americans are going to be forced to keep their car longer. When you do keep your car much longer it will need more maintenance. The better you can take care of your car the longer it will last. So I would like to offer a couple of tips from my experience owning a San Diego auto repair company.
One of those things that can be so easily passed over is making sure your car runs clean. Why is this important?Because if you aren’t able to keep it running clean you are in danger of failing the smog check. If you fail a smog test you could be in for some expensive repairs. I have seen this time and time again from doing San Diego smog check.
All you really need to do is to be sure that you change the oil on a regular schedule.Als be positive that it is tuned up for all the regular tune ups.
Second thing overlooked is brakes. You don’t pay much attention to them. But everybody agrees they are important for safety. But if you are unable to maintain it, this can lead to an expensive repair. I should know having to charge my clients to replace their brakes at my San Diego brake shop.
Be sure that when you are braking that you do not be too rough on them. Be ready for all the stops and then you will be able to brake slowly. Also be sure there is enough bake fluids. This can save you a lot of money in repairs.
Do these few tips and you can be in for a lot of money saved in repairs. When you have to keep your cars longer you will be glad you did.

Well the time of irrational exuberance is now long gone. For most Americans luxuries like new cars are a thing of the past. Now when a family is in need of a new car they are forced to look into buying a used car. This is evident in all of the financial problems the big 3 carmakers are having. There sales are down.
But most families will still need some sort of transportation. But when the money is hard to come by most families are going to have to choose a cheaper option. That alternative is used cars.
As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.Because when you are making a purchase of a used car, the last thing you want is a lemon. So by making sure there is proper inspectino performed, you can avoid most expensive repairs.
So when you are looking over these cars remember these couple of items to inspect.First you will want to inspect the brakes. We do San Diego brake in our shop. So I know first hand that brake repairs can become expensive. If you buy an auto that the owners didn’t take care of the brakes, that could lead to very expensive repairs. Last thing you want is to have to replace the entire braking system. So be sure you have good brakes.
Second you want to make sure it is running clean.Another way to say it, can it pass the smog test. In my business I do San Diego smog check. The last thing I am sure you want to happen is to buy a car that is in need of expensive repairs.Especially if the repairs are going to involve any emmission problems.
If you purchase a car that can’t pass a smog test that isn’t good. It is a sign that the car wasn’t taken care of.What most likely occured is they didn’t do any maintenance on it.These could be the beginning of a lot more issues down the road.
If you just check out these few items you can save money. By not doing proper checking you can fall into some huge repair bills. When you need to save money, I am pretty sure you don’t want that.

Smog tests with Used Cars
In this economic times instead of buying a new car, most families are going to opt to buy used cars.
With that being the case, there will be a lot of issues concerning finances that go into place when making a used car purchase.
When I say financial considerations, I am not just talking about the sales price.
When you represent a family and were really looking for ways to save money, you obviously don’t want to buy a used vehicle that has extra repair expenses that you weren’t prepared for.Especially if your budget did not have those extra expenses in it.
So one of the major things to be aware of is having to do a smog test. The last thing you will ever want to do is having to make expensive repairs because of a failed smog check. I have seen too many used cars in my San Diego auto repair business have this happen.
So in buying the used car here are a few things you ought to consider.
In a law that was passed in 2005, 1976 cars or older don’t have to get a smog test.So if your vehicle is newer than that your car will need to be tested based on state emission laws. You can learn about your state if you call the Bureau
of Automotive repair at (800) 952-5210.
If you live in California and are buying a used car you may need a San Diego smog check. If it is being sold or registerd in California for the first time, you will need a smog check.
Other than that, if the vehicle is going into it’s 5th or 7th year, a smog check will need to be done biennially.
If you made the car purchase in another state but live in California, you will have to find out if your vehicle can pass a smog test.California generally is going to be much stricter.
With it being the case, when purchasing your next car you want to keep that in mind.
Costs for a smog test San Diego generally run between $30 to $80.But as previously mentioned, it isn’t the biggest cost. The big cost is if you need costly repairs.
So in the process of the purchase of a used car, be sure to determine if the car has recently passed a smog check.
You don’t want any surprise expenses popping up when your goal was to save money by buying a used car.
Follow these steps when shopping for a used car and you are going to save a lot of money.
